Stitching a Grumpy Wren - An Embroidery Guide
Now, I’m just going to say it and address the elephant in the room…. my little Wren has turned out a bit grumpy! It’s how I’ve stitched his little eye. It’s so interesting, isn’t it? The eyes are the key to giving such a character and a tweak could give him a completely different personality. My initial reaction was to unpick and re-stitch to give him a happier appearance. But after I had slept on it, I’ve decided to leave him as he is…… a cute grumpy little Wren embroidery.

Long Tailed Tit Embroidery
Oooo I’ve really added a whole new level of fun with this embroidery project. It’s the first of my new garden bird designs that I’ve stitched and yes, I’ve painted the background!
Rabbit Spring Embroidery
I’ve stitched my Rabbit Embroidery Square so I’m writing this blog to show you exactly how I stitched my bunny and a guide of how you can stitch yours. I include the thread colours, the stitches, the number of strands and the needle size that I’ve used along with a few video links of each weeks stitching progress.
The daffodils are open and this is the perfect time to be stitching this adorable bunny! But rabbits aren’t just for Easter, so if you’re a rabbit lover stitching your embroidery square on a dark November evening you’re going to have just as much fun as I did being creative with this whimsical design.
Mouse Embroidery
I started my mouse embroidery square while I was at Exeter Craft Festival in July this year. I knew it would be a ‘mice’ little project (sorry couldn’t help it) for those quiet times during events. I actually didn’t manage to stitch that much at the festival and ended up cutting out most of what I did stitch…. But that is the great thing about embroidery, its so easy to pick up and put down and anything you’re not happy with can be re-stitched or stitched over.
Duck Embroidery- Rainy Days
Well, it just had to be my duck design for April stitch along…….although so far we’ve been very lucky with the sunshine and had very few showers.
March Stitch Along - Sunny Meadows
Hello again! I must say….I have absolutely loved this one! I may have gone a bit overboard with the colours though – at the end of stitching I’ve used 11 colours in total, a few more than I thought I was going to use but I just couldn’t help myself. The spring flowers have really sprung into action over the last for the couple of weeks and are just displaying so many colours!
February Stitch Along - The Lighthouse
Hello again! I’ve just finished off my February stitching so thought this was the perfect time to write the blog to go along with it. Although these stitch along blogs are going to be more like little recap guides for those of you wanting something to refer to quickly if you fancied stitching your own embroidery squares.
How I stitched my Seagull
How did my embroidery squares come about?
For me, tracing patterns onto fabric is the bit that I do not enjoy doing. I don’t have a light box, so I tape patterns onto windows and trace the best I can, but my arm aches after a while, my pen stops working properly from holding it up and I usually miss bits of the pattern. So, before I’ve even threaded my needle, I feel like I’ve already got off to a bad start with my embroidery. And so, having my designs pre-printed ready to colour in with thread takes away that initial faff and allows you to get going with the fun bit…….the stitching!
Make the most of your lavender bags.
Hello everyone! I’ve just finished running a cheeky little deal on my lavender bags so I thought I’d write a post about how you can put them to good use if you snapped some up.
